Post 2: Why did I choose my major?

As I mentioned in the last blog, I'm Studying architecture. When I was a child, the first thing that I wanted to study it was veterinary because I loved animals and I liked to take care of them. Then I grew up watching a lot of detective movies and I wanted to be investigative police, I have always been interested in mysterious cases. When I was about sixteen years old, I told my parents about that, but they did not like the idea, and it was disappointing and sad because I really wanted to be supported in my choice. Then my parents tried to encourage me to study another thing, they suggested biotechnology, engineering, law... but nothing was exciting enough.
One thing that my father noticed was that I had artistic abilities and I was good at math, so he came up with the idea of architecture and that was finally the one that convinced me because I found it entertaining and I thought I could develop and improve my artistic side. However, I began university knowing absolutely nothing about architecture, so in the beginning it was difficult, stressful and I cried a lot thinking that I was not made for this.
In the second year, I started getting good grades and I finally felt that my effort and dedication it was worth it. Currently, I've learned how to manage stress and I'm pretty sure I love my major.

These are some of the projects that I did in my first year.

  1. Omg Antonia, I understand so much your frustration at first, it's a terrible feeling and many times it reappears out of nowhere, however if you like the career, don't give up!
And it's a pity that your parents didn't support you in the past, but the important is that it led you to be here now. Everything happens for a reason.

    P.S. I loved your jobs <3

  2. Hello Antonia!! On the one hand, It´s a shame that you haven't been able to study what you liked in the beginning, but on the other, It's great that you've gone for an architecture degree and feel safe studying it.
